Scott is a senior partner at Rice Craig, his principal area of practice is commercial law.

Scott has specialised expertise in all commercial matters from shareholder agreements and disputes, sales and acquisitions to joint ventures and drafting and reviewing business contracts. He is sought after for his highly effective practice and exceptional client care. With more than 30 years in his field he is a trusted advisor in the South Auckland business community, dedicated to assisting small to medium enterprise (“SME”) businesses, family businesses and the people who own and operate them, combining his sound commercial acumen with a genuine client-focused, approachable manner. Scott also assists with a wide range of ‘business as usual’ personal requirements such as estate planning and property matters. 

Scott has a keen interest in mediation as a mechanism for resolving disputes. Having completed the Harvard Mediation Intensive he utilises these specialist skills to advise clients as counsel in mediation as well as act as mediator to assist parties to move beyond their dispute.

Background

Scott attended Papakura High School and completed his university studies in Auckland, he was admitted in 1995. Before starting a family he and his wife spent two years travelling and working overseas. Scott has since enjoyed a long-standing tenure at Rice Craig. 

Scott takes pride in being a part of the Rice Craig team, he believes the collective value placed on succession planning and cultivating strong relationships within the team has contributed to the success of 100 years’ service to the local and wider South Auckland community.

Outside interests

Outside of work Scott enjoys the outdoors, mountain biking in the forest, playing touch rugby and fishing with his children.
