With over 40 years practising law, Lance provides expert advice on all residential property matters and acts for a broad range of clients from first home buyers to property owners. A highly experienced practitioner, Lance will identify any potential pitfalls whilst structuring transactions, and help clients negotiate. He understands that no matter what step of the ladder you’re on – buying and selling your greatest asset can be a highly stressful time. It is important to Lance and his hard-working team that they minimise stress by providing a service as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Lance is a seasoned practitioner in wills, estates and trusts. He holds an extensive South Auckland client base whom he has worked with over a number of years, including generations of family and wider family groups. Often clients come unclear about the role of a trustee. Lance is known for his ability to communicate what it is that a client needs to understand. Common questions might be regarding the role of a trustee, what rights beneficiaries have and queries about blended families.

Lance is a meticulous lawyer who cares about the people he represents. Clients can trust that Lance will always be thorough and diligent, and that he will have considered in detail the issue at hand and suggest practical solutions to enable clients to embark on safe and sensible courses of action.

Background

Lance completed his university studies in Auckland and after a stint playing cricket in England for a year he returned to New Zealand.

Lance was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor in 1982 and became a director in the law firm Wood Ruck Manukau Limited, where he remained for 24 years. In 2010, on the dissolution of Wood Ruck Manukau Lance joined Beattie Rickman Legal, thereafter establishing the firm Wiltshire Stone Lawyers Limited, operating both in Pakuranga and Manukau. Lance joined Rice Craig as a Consultant Solicitor in September 2018.

Lance values his highly skilled team and enjoys working in the very supportive environment at Rice Craig. He has added new depth of local knowledge and knowhow to Rice Craig’s long established practice.

Outside interests

Lance has enjoyed a life-long passion for sport, having played and coached both cricket and hockey over the years and more recently punished himself by playing golf. At the weekends when he gets the chance he enjoys the life of an orchardist and can be found tending avocados, as well as playing with tractors and chainsaws in the Bay of Plenty.
