Rice Craig welcomes Rani Amaranathan as new Partner

Rice Craig is pleased to announce Rani Amaranathan has become a partner of the firm from 1 January 2025.

Rani has been at Rice Craig for 15 years and specialises in employment law, civil litigation and workplace investigations. “Being appointed as a partner at Rice Craig is a tremendous honour,” says Rani Amaranathan. “I am deeply committed to upholding the firm’s values and providing our clients with the highest standard of service. I am excited about the opportunity to contribute further to our team’s success and growth.”

Over her 15 years in the firm Rani has developed strong relationships with Rice Craig’s clients and contributed her wealth of employment law experience in assisting them.  She has also developed a secondary specialisation in civil litigation and recently completed the Association of Workplace Investigator’s Training Institute.   She has maintained and developed her practice while working part time for the whole of that period, as do several of Rice Craig’s solicitors.  Rice Craig’s provision of a workplace that provides genuine flexibility for employees with family commitments is reflective of the firm’s values and one of the reasons Rani is now proud to be one of the firm’s partners.

Rani has experience living and working in the United Kingdom as well as working for a large New Zealand law firm.  She is pleased to bring those experiences to South Auckland where she completed her secondary education and where she lives. She also enjoys contributing to the South Auckland community in her voluntary role on school boards of trustees, which she has done for almost 12 years.

Rani advises clients on all aspects of employment law and most aspects of civil litigation.   Rani has successfully represented clients in high-profile employment disputes and complex civil litigation cases, achieving significant wins that have had a lasting impact on their businesses. She has represented clients at MBIE Mediations, in the Employment Relations Authority, Employment Court, District Court, High Court and Court of Appeal, as well as various tribunals.  She especially enjoys getting to know and understand her clients and their businesses so that advice and practical solutions can be tailored to their needs.

Outside of work Rani enjoys traveling and spending time on her lifestyle block with her husband and three children.
